The 22 Highest-Ranked U.S. Hospitals in 2023

Must read

Last year’s top hospital and a household name — the Mayo Clinic — remains among the top of the medical field, according to U.S. News & World Report’s latest annual Best Hospitals in the USA rankings.

The publication says the Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic and last year’s runner-up, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, are still among the best of the best.

However, this year, the top 22 hospitals overall are not ranked in order, but listed alphabetically. Within each specialty, however, numbered ranks are still assigned.

The Best Hospitals in the USA rankings — the 34th that U.S. News has released — span 15 adult specialties and 21 surgical procedures and medical conditions. U.S. News says it evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across the nation.

According to the publication:

“The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology factor objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, patient experience, level of nursing care and how successfully each hospital helps patients get back home.”

The list of Best Hospitals in the USA is important because patients of all kinds want to find the top specialty treatments available. Whether someone is in search of cancer treatment or heart surgery, having a ranked list of the top hospitals can bring peace of mind during difficult times.

Of the hospitals included in U.S. News’ analysis, 22 made what the publication calls its “Best Hospitals Honor Roll.” U.S. News says the following hospitals “are among the best of the Best Hospitals”:
