Customers are bit less satisfied with their gas utilities than in the past, but some companies continue to earn impressive marks, according to J.D. Power’s latest annual U.S. Gas Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study.

J.D. Power polled more than 8,800 customers nationwide about 59 gas utility companies.

In order of importance, survey respondents were asked to rate the companies based on:

  • Safety and reliability
  • Billing and payment
  • Corporate citizenship
  • Price
  • Communications
  • Customer contact

Overall satisfaction was down 6 points from 2022.

Higher natural gas prices could be one factor that has driven customer ratings lower. However, in each of four U.S. regions, a number of gas utilities received higher customer satisfaction ratings than the regional average.

Here are the big winners in the East, Midwest, South and West.
